∙ Tropical Storm: A cyclone with winds from 39 to 73 mph.
∙ Hurricane Watch: Hurricane may strike area within 24-48 hours.
∙ Hurricane Warning: Hurricane is expected to strike in 24 hours or less.
∙ Tropical Storm Watch: Storm conditions possible in area usually within 36 hours.
∙ Tropical Storm Warning: Storm expected in area within 24 hours or less.
The National Weather Service categorizes hurricanes by intensity on a scale of one to five. Five indicates the most severe hurricane with winds of 155 mph or more.
