English to Portuguese: ecological economics General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Economics
Source text - English The issue of human’s role in shaping the combined biological and cultural evolution of the planet is of critical importance. Human are conscious of the processes of biological and cultural evolution and cannot avoid being anthropocentric. But in the long run, if humans are to manage the whole planet effectively, we must develop the capacity to take a broader biocentric perspective and to treat our fellow species with respect and fairness. We must also recognize that most natural systems are self-regulating and that the best “managerial strategy” is often to leave tem alone. COSTANZA, Robert (ed). Ecological Economics: the science and management of sustainability.

English to Portuguese: Mitral Valve Prolapse in Emergency Medicine General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Cardiology
Source text - English Mitral Valve Prolapse in Emergency Medicine Author: Michael C Plewa, MD; Chief Editor: David FM Brown, MD more... In Emergency Medicine Articles, Medscape REFERENCE, acssed in 30.10. 12:03 Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) can occur in a multitude of disorders and, in most instances, it reflects a normal variant rather than a single disease process. Despite years of research, the symptomatology and significance of mitral valve prolapse remain controversial. It was termed the disease of the decade in the 1980s, but now some consider it an interesting finding of dubious importance until mitral regurgitation (MR) manifests. Initial studies that reported associated symptoms of MVP as chest pain, dyspnea, anxiety, and panic were probably flawed by recruitment bias.[1] Studies imply that the incidence of MVP previously was overestimated by inaccurate echocardiographic diagnostic criteria and that associated symptoms, other than palpitations, are uncommon.[2] Despite this, patients with MVP are at risk for arrhythmias, endocarditis, stroke,[3] mitral regurgitation (MR), mitral valve replacement (MVR) surgery,[4] and sudden death. Mitral valve prolapse is also associated with migraine (especially migraine with aura),[5] autoimmune disease,[6] and idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss[7] .	Translation - Portuguese Prolapso da Válvula Mitral em Medicina de Emergência. [2]
English to Portuguese: The Five Points of Calvinism General field: Other Detailed field: Religion
Source text - English SEATON, W.J. The Five Points of Calvinism. Edinburg/Pennsylvania: The Banner of Truth trust, 1983. We must take our starting point in Holland in the year 1610. James Arminius, a Dutch professor, had just died and his teaching had been formulated into five main points of doctrine by his followers − known as Arminians. Up to this point, the churches of Holland, in common with the other major Protestant churches of Europe had subscribed to the Belgic and Heidelberg Confession of Faith, which were both set squarely on Reformation teachings. The Arminians wanted to change this position, however, and they presented their five points in the form of a Remonstrance − or protest – to the Dutch Parliament.	Translation - Portuguese _______ Os cinco pontos do calvinismo.
