I am a freelance translator (French-English and Italian-English) and teacher of English as a foreign language, returning to translation and interpreting after a long hiatus spent teaching English in France since 2015 and residing between France and the UK. I am a native (British) English speaker and can translate into American English if desired.

Outside of translating, my domains of professional experience include university teaching, primary and secondary education, teaching English to adults, public service administrative work, academic proofreading, community radio and a musical instrument repair internship. I have had extensive experience in solo musical performance (classical singing and violoncello), and I am a musician and music group coordinator in my free time, and I most enjoy reading about psychology and mental health, cultural and religious relations, linguistics (especially Phonology, Pragmatics and Discourse Stylistics), and music of all genres.

I enjoy translating in a variety of fields. My strengths are in marketing, social sciences, academic writing, literary and general translation, as well as translation in my domains of professional experience. I have consistently been commended for my academic writing style. I have taught business English and English to students working in scientific and pharmaceutical fields, and I would happily take on translation work in these fields. 

Other fields of translation experience include financial translation, law, software localisation (using Trados), marketing and medical prescriptions and test results. I translate certificates, but am not in a position to take on certified translation projects at this time.

In addition to translation I am trained in French-English public service interpreting and completed an extended assignment in Italian-English interpreting in the field of leisure and tourism in 2015. My level of French is C1 (Advanced) and I am seeking French-English interpreting work in the wider Lyon area.
