I am a freelance translator (French-English and Italian-English) and teacher of English as a foreign language. I am a native (British) English speaker and can translate into American English if desired. I have been living in France for two years. I am qualified with an MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies (2013) from University of Manchester and a BA in Modern Languages (2012) from Oxford University.
I am trained in French-English public service interpreting and completed an extended assignment in Italian-English interpreting in the field of leisure and tourism in 2015. My level of French is C1 (Advanced) across all skill areas and I am seeking French-English interpreting work in the Lyon area.
Outside of translating, my domains of professional experience include university teaching, primary education, public service clerical work, a community radio station and a violin repair shop.
I enjoy translating in a variety of fields. My strengths are in marketing, social sciences, academic writing, literary and general translation, as well as translation in my domains of professional experience. I have consistently been commended for my academic writing style. I teach business English and English to students working in scientific and pharmaceutical fields, and I would happily take on translation work in these fields.
