Bio
Hello, I look forward to collaborating with you! Here's some brief background info about
me if helpful in the meantime.

I grew up speaking English and French in the US, before studying
Mandarin Chinese in college and later moving to France in 2014. I have dual
French-US citizenship and mainly translate from French and Mandarin Chinese
into US English. I’m also delighted to translate from English and Mandarin
Chinese into French whenever preferable.

My professional experience goes back to 2001, when I started translating
part-time for an American law firm handling claims in connection with the
health effects of smoking. Since then, I've translated, edited or proofread
millions of words.

My master's thesis in linguistics compares a couple of direct imperative
verb constructions that are common today in Mandarin Chinese. My observations
are based on a hybrid corpus comprising the dialogs from a 2013 Chinese sitcom
(roughly twenty-two hours of video across thirty episodes), together with a
collection of modern Chinese literary works (several novels and the script of
one stage play), backed up by published translations in both English and
French.

Please feel free to reach out about anything you believe we may be able
to collaborate on.

Kind regards,

Nicolas Fralin
