English to Portuguese: A Festa no Jardim, de Katherine Mansfield General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English And after all the weather was ideal. They could not have had a more perfect day for a garden-party if they had ordered it. Windless, warm, the sky without a cloud. Only the blue was veiled with a haze of light gold, as it is sometimes in early summer. The gardener had been up since dawn, mowing the lawns and sweeping them, until the grass and the dark flat rosettes where the daisy plants had been seemed to shine. As for the roses, you could not help feeling they understood that roses are the only flowers that impress people at garden-parties; the only flowers that everybody is certain of knowing. Hundreds, yes, literally hundreds, had come out in a single night; the green bushes bowed down as though they had been visited by archangels.
Translation - Portuguese No fim das contas, o clima estava ideal.
English to Portuguese: Por Conta Própria, de F. Scott Fitzgerald General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English The third time he walked around the deck Evelyn stared at him. She stood leaning against the bulwark and when she heard his footsteps again she turned frankly and held his eyes for a moment until his turned away, as a woman can when she has the protection of other men’s company, Barlotto, playing ping-pong with Eddie O’Sullivan, noticed the encounter. “Aha!” he said, before the stroller was out of hearing, and when the rally was finished: “Then you’re still interested even if it’s not the German Prince.”
“How do you know it’s not the German Prince?” Evelyn demanded.
“Because the German Prince is the horse-faced man with white eyes. This one”—he took a passenger list from his pocket—“is either Mr George Ives, Mr Jubal Early Robbins and valet, or Mr Joseph Widdle with Mrs Widdle and six children.”

About me
I am an English to Brazilian Portuguese translator, subtitler and proofreader located in Brazil. I have a Cambridge English certification of proficiency (C2) and am a
certified translator, with a bachelor’s degree in translation studies and English, as well as a master’s degree in English, both undertaken in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, one of Brazil’s top universities.
Additionally, I have certified training in subtitling practices and in translation specifically for subtitles, including Netflix’s Timed Text Style Guide, and can perform subtitle translation both with a template and from
scratch.
Previous experiences
During my time as a student, I have dedicated much time and attention to subtitle translation, on which I conducted my senior thesis, and literary translation, to which I dedicated my translation internships.
Additionally, I have worked as an academic proofreader in different journals for many years, checking articles for grammar, punctuation, spelling and coherence, as well as for different style guides following each journal’s specific guidelines.
I'm an active volunteer subtitle translator at TED Translations, having translated talks and interviews from different areas and adopting varied terminologies, including literature, philosophy, climate change, women's rights, activism, technology, economics, politics and education.
I have led and collaborated with online projects discussing popular culture in a wide variety of formats, and have over 60 published articles. I have also participated in research groups on narrative and intermediality and published in academic journals, both in Portuguese and English, discussing literature, translation and television storytelling.
More about me
I am a fast learner with a vast knowledge of popular culture (film, television, streaming etc.), an avid reader of both literature and general interest newspapers and magazines in both English and Brazilian Portuguese, and a trained researcher with years of experience.
I am used to following deadlines and managing different projects, materials and demands as needed.
