Bio
Dear members of ProZ,
I am a certified journalist with experience in print and online media as well as in audio and video editing. While I was at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), I also had classes about Cinema and Editorial Production in order to have a broad knowledge of Social Communications. I participate in online courses taught in English by Coursera, mostly related to literature. The first was about science fiction and currently I attend other about relationship in fiction.
I have been to Spain from September of 2008 until February of 2009. There, I studied Cinema at Universidad de Salamanca. In May of 2014, I have been to Mexico where I enhanced my Spanish proficiency.
Since very early age, I developed strong interest for the foreign affairs. When I was fourteen years old, I participated in my first Model UN - in which it was simulated a UN committee session – in Belo Horizonte. Then, I took part in two other models and one of them was completely in English (in British School).
Furthermore, I’ve always had foreign language skills. Beside Portuguese - which is my mother tongue - I am fluent in English, Spanish and French. I had also received honorable mention at the IX Concurso Diálogo Latino (contest promoted by Instituto Cervantes, Aliança Francesa as well as French, Italian, Argentinean and Spanish consulates).
I can easily adapt to different kinds of jobs. I started at a NGO working as intern. After that, I was part of Network Eventos crew, where I used to write texts about technology. In 2008, I worked at Agencia EFE, a Spanish news agency. I used to receive news in Spanish from USA, Europe, Iraq and Latin America on daily bases. I translated those into Portuguese and edited the texts.
In 2009, I worked in two BBC magazines: Knowledge (scientific) and Lonely Planet (famous publication about the most fantastic world’s destinations).
In 2011, I was an interpreter (Spanish, English and French into Portuguese) for the V CISM (International Military Sports Council) Military World Games in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2014, I translated (EN > PT) and did the subtitles for two TV shows from National Geographic Channel (“Empire” and “Ultimate Airport”).
I also worked at TV Câmara as a cameraman and video editor, as 1st assistant director at Shoptime and now I am a bookseller at Livraria Argumento.
