My language pairs are French-UK English and Italian-UK English. My main areas of specialisation are Business and Commerce, Finance and the Economy, Marketing, Politics, some Legal, Fashion, history and politics. Recent work has included an ongoing project on the crash of a major European company and the financial and legal implications, company reports and presentations, distribution and import/export contracts, employment contracts and financial analyses; a bound review of Lyon arts and crafts achievements for an exhibition. I am currently working on press releases for a major EU country and have just finished trasnlating part of a book on the Arab-Arab tribal wars in the 19th century.
I lived in France for 10 years, working as a translator and EFL consultant, and in Italy for two. I have a BA Honours degree in French and Italian and an MA in French politics and sociolinguistics, and considerable experience in teaching in various linguistic and cultural areas in further and higher education. I now work out of the UK and am a Member of ITI, the British organisation for translators and interpreters.
I work with Windows XP, Word, Excel and Powerpoint and with Trados 6.5 (soon updating) and SDLX 2005.
I can work to tight (though not unreasonable!) turn-around times, producing accurate and well-researched work that reflects the style of the source text while reproducing the "tone" of an English text. My rate is EUR 0.12 per word.
