In 1977 I graduated as a licentiate translator (mother tongue Dutch, foreign languages English and Spanish) from the Flemish Section of the Institut Libre Marie Haps, a Brussels school for translators and interpreters.
In September of that same year I started work as an English language teacher at an Italian technical school in Cairo, Egypt, for 2 years.
Next I worked for 6 months as a translator/copywriter with Tandy Corporation Europe, at Naninne, Belgium.
In 1980 I took up employment as a translator with a Belgian subsidiary of initially a US and subsequently a French telecom equipment manufacturer, in Antwerp.
In 1987 I registered as a sworn translator at the Antwerp Court of First Instance.
In 1998 I set up business as a freelance translator.
