I translation from French to English, and Jamaican Patois to English. My preferred texts are biology or geology texts, specifically ecology, evolution, botany, comparative vertebrate anatomy, or public-facing math and physics material. I also, however, translate genre fiction.

Background

I have a B.Sc. in evolutionary biology and have worked in a physics lab as an intern. Due to this and experience from my research-based hobbies, learning on-the-go and picking up terminology is no problem. In particular, I would be happy to translate texts based on biology (evolutionary biology, zoology, ecology), or material, such as science communication, with physics and math terminology.

I am a Caribbean national, and I have studied in the United States for ten years, and so I am familiar with United States English, as well as Patois and a Caribbean form of Standard English.

Subtitling

At the 11th Language Creation Society Conference I subtitled a presentation on my conlang, Atsi. The completed video can be viewed here. The subtitles are in English, for Atsi original dialogue.

Hobbies

I translate parts of various songs and poems into my constructed languages, and I take notes about the choices I made.

I also translated an 800 word chapter of a middle-school book into the constructed language Toki Pona, made by Sonja Lang, the first paragraph of which can be seen here (in Sitelen Pona script).

I create languages.
