Currently gaining experience living and working in Germany, before commencing an internship with the European Commission in March. Enthusiastic, intelligent and dedicated, with considerable experience of both literary and non-fiction translation.
Freelance translator and/or interpreter, Verified site user
I graduated with a first class honours degree in modern languages and literature from Oxford University in 2005. Following this, I obtained an MSc in Translating and Conference interpreting from Heriot-Watt University. Currently I am living and working in Scotland after completing two internships - one in Germany and one with the Directorate General for Translation at the European Commission.
I have a wide range of experience of literary and non-fiction translation, along with a comprehensive knowledge of business, finance and the politics of European Union processes and institiutions, which I am continuing to develop. Most of my current work is in the automotive and transportation industries, with a significant number of marketing and environmental texts. I am a dedicated and consistent translator, and can provide samples of my work upon request.
I love a challenge, and aim to provide a fast and accurate translation that reads like English but remains true to the register, style and content of the source text.
