I have been working as free-lance translator for 15 years now (full-time), mainly for EU institutions and my translations have always been evaluated as "Very Good"/"Good" by the linguistic departments. In the past I worked in Luxembourg as an EU contract agent (translator) with the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union. I currently have an individual contract for the provision of translation services with the European Investment Bank, the European Commission and the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union. I translate in Greek from English, French, Italian, Spanish, German and lately Serbo-Croat. EU policy, finance, business are my specialties. As a freelance translator I found myself to be very self disciplined. I can plan time and workload effectively and I can work confidently under strict deadlines. I never stop cultivating my languages and my knowledge as I am fond of reading newspapers (Greek newspapers, Economist, European Voice) and discovering new fields and languages. My primary aim is to provide documents which never look like translations.
My translation history:
- EU documents (reports, motions for resolutions, opinions of the European Economic and Social Committee, annual reports and opinions of the European Court of Auditors) from English, French, Spanish and Italian in Greek (9000 pages).
- European Commission documents from English. Technical documents - EU regulations on digital tachographs, wheeled tractors and other technical devices (specifications, standards, operation etc).
- Financial/business documents from English in Greek (500 pages) : online forex trading platforms (foreign exchange swaps), financial reports, anti-bribery policy of companies, high risk investment products, use of futures etc |
