Ziya is an articulate and native-level speaker of English and Turkish, with an intimate understanding of the two cultures. He has been described by a distinguished colleague as an exceptional conference interpreter and an ‘A’ in both the languages. He has more than ten years of experience working as a full-time professional interpreter & translator. As a conference interpreter he has worked within the UK, in various European countries, and Turkey. His experience includes interpreting at the European Parliament in Brussels; the Home Office headquarters in London; and interpreting at all levels of courts in the United Kingdom (including the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London, for International Chamber of Commerce hearings). He has accompanied delegations from Turkey on official tours in the UK and Europe. He has regularly assisted the British police throughout this time. He has interpreted at government and council offices, hospitals (including high-security hospitals), detention centres, and prisons. He has assisted in interviews carried out by the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) in relation to immigration matters.
Among the companies and institutions he has carried out translation / proofreading / localisation projects, he can count Dell, Xerox, the International Social Security Association (ISSA), Wasserman Media, and The Vehbi Koç Foundation. He has participated in literary translation projects, and has experience translating various types of legal documents. On occasion he has undertaken the role of assessing the work of translators. Ziya has experience in the recording studio; among the companies he has worked for as a voice-over artist, he can count Rosetta Stone, Microsoft and Cisco.

Translation Rates: Usually 0.07 - 0.08 GBP per source word (rates depend on factors such as subject area, volume, deadline and degree of specialisation).

Interpreting Rates: Please apply for a quote; an hourly/daily rate corresponding to the requirements of the assignment shall be provided. In most cases, a three-hour minimum charge will apply, together with reasonable travel costs (usually public transport).
