About me
Spanish is my native language. I was born and brought up in a small town in northeast Argentina. When I turned 18 I moved to Cordoba to study. Something that makes me feel very proud about those days is having done all my university studies while working to make a living. Although I got my Translator’s degree in 1988 y did not start work in that field until later as I was saving up money to travel to Europe. So after I graduated I traveled around Europe for one year.
Back in those days, translating was a difficult field to break into and was much worse paid than today. It was not something from which you could make a living. So I started translating sporadically, doing exasperatingly infrequent assignments until I more or less became established.
Since then, I have translated, studied and raised children more or less simultaneously. I have done freelance translating for a well-known cellular phone company, airline company, hospital, translation companies, and a law firm. Those using my services have also included individuals needing personal documentation or education-related documents (such as transcripts, study programs, diplomas), university researchers in the chemistry and biology areas, and I have translated poetry from English to Spanish and vice versa, as well.
I pursued graduate studies in Spanish language and literature in the US (MA in Spanish) and although I have not published any translation in the field, literary criticism is what I like best and what I am doing as personal projects.
