Experience
Years of experience: 40. Registered at ProZ.com: Nov 2004.
The wide range of expertise reflects the many subject areas I've been exposed to during my residence in Europe for over 20 years. I began as an in-house translator for the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva, Switzerland. Since 1984 I have offered translation and language services on a freelance basis in Germany and occasional longer-term stays in the US (most recently, 2002-2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah--"Ausland" for a native Pennsylvanian!). So far, I have translated eight books and countless other types of texts for both large companies and private clients. From April 1994 to October 2004 I worked as a translator trainer at the University of Heidelberg's Institute for Translation and Interpretation. Starting in 2003 I began offering introductory and advanced courses on translating medical texts with a focus on Biomedical Technology. I left the institute to start Leube Translation and Language Services in October 2004.
Since 2006 I have been teaching continuing education courses for medical translators for the American Translators Association and its German counterpart BDÜ. I continue to be the translation project manager for the Pachyonychia Congenita project in Salt Lake City and work as a translator and copy editor for the journal Lymphologie in Forschung und Praxis.
