Source text - English Séq. 1 EXT – Train Lake Shore Limited roulant
Translation - French SEQ. 1 EXT –Lake Shore Limited running train DAY (USA – Late 90’s)
Music by Casse-Noisette (Mirlitons dance) by Piotr Ilyitch Tchaïkovski
An Amtrak diesel and electric train is speeding through an endless array of straight rails.
The train carries eight closed train cars equipped with sliding doors and air vents and is engaged in the rocky plains of the Mojave desert. The last train car is topped with a roof that is higher than the other train car. On all eight wagons one can clearly read the following marking : The Lake Shore Limited.
The desert landscape, scattered with yuccas and Joshua Trees, stretches endlessly.
In a cloud of dust, the train goes past the famous phone booth (the Mojave Phone Booth) that delimits California and Nevada states.
The booth glass door slams as the fast train passes next to it.
Mountainous masses stand out in the far distant skies.
The Lake Shore Limited approaches a field of windmills settled next to the Tehachapi Pass, down in the Death Valley. The conveyance then runs along the huge solar station located near Bolder City. The reflectors panels installed there reflect the tremendous amount of sunlight that is covering the wild valley.
