As a translator and newscaster, I have worked for the Persian/Dari Section of Radio Saudi Arabia in Jeddah for eight years. I have mainly translated from Arabic and English into Farsi/Dari. Working at the Embassy of Afghanistan as the Second Secretary in Kuwait for five years, I have also translated and interpreted from Arabic and English into Dari/Farsi and vice versa. In addition, translating agreements, memorandums of understanding and assessing the conformity of translation of international conventions and covenants at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in Kabul, I have improved my translation skills in the government, legal and political arena.
Being a poet and writer in Dari/Farsi and attending a six month journalism course offered by Americans for Afghan Refugees in Peshawar, Pakistan, enable me to do exceedingly well in any journalistic assignment. I have translated from Arabic and English in the Persian Edition of several Saudi English and Arabic newspapers for seven years.
I can translate from Farsi/Dari into English very well. Presently, I am attending the Seneca College Language Interpreting Program and doing volunteer interpreting for the Afghan Women Organization in Toronto, Ontario. My BA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with a minor degree in education and a Master Degree in Library and Information Science will help me in conducting research and differentiating between current and obsolete information. I have a three year special diploma in Arabic Language too which is a positive point in writing well in Farsi/Dari as the latter borrows from the former many words and grammatical structures. Finally, I can type on the computer very well ( 55 words p/m) in the three languages of English, Farsi/Dari and Arabic and can meet deadlines. |
