Bio
As a language consultant with 10 years of experience, I provide direct interpretation and translation services related to social justice issues, and specialize in education, housing, immigration and labor relation matters.

Interpreting engagements average 400 hours per year and include one to ones, committee meetings, trainings, workshops, contract negotiations, board of director meetings, hiring interviews, retreats, press conferences, outdoor demonstrations, public hearings, and town hall meetings.

Translation projects average 110,000 words per year and include letters, outreach/meeting materials, press releases, reports, student and employee manuals, policy initiatives, websites, affidavits, liability releases, contracts, court decisions, bylaws and incorporation documents.

High quality service means I:

  • Optimize the high level understanding and active participation of limited English and Spanish proficiency speakers by supplying bi-directional simultaneous interpretation services for all monolinguals;
  • Conduct event-specific need analyses and coordinate all interpretation logistics;
  • Maximize end-user comprehension and content accessibility by utilizing the cultural context, social experience and educational backgrounds of end-users as a guiding principle;
  • Champion the use of inclusionary language suitable for those with limited subject knowledge and promote a reduced use of acronyms;
  • Keep abreast of regional language differences, utilizing Pan-American language for mixed audiences, and localized language for specific populations.

I am a graduate of New York University with work experience in internet agencies [5+ years] and real estate market research [3 years].
