XXX (formerly known as XXX or XXX) was created in 2001. XXX has had some of the most low performing schools in XXX. Battling educational discrimination and injustice, parents and community based organizations founded XXX to empower themselves so that they can improve education, create better schools, and build stronger communities. XXX unites parents, neighborhood residents, community-based organizations and a university to build a movement to ensure that the children of the XXX receive the highest quality education. Through organizing our community and building alliances with others struggling for educational justice, XXX strives to create change for our children.
How XXX Functions:
XXX is a multicultural and bilingual collaborative, focused on parents and children. It is led by parents. The role of parents includes but is not limited to:
- Creating and shaping vision for the organizing work/defining campaigns;
- Recruiting and sustaining new members;
- Mentoring others to bring them to the next level of leadership;
- Facilitating meetings;
- Public Spokespersons for the Collaborative;
- Having final decision making authority;
- Working with organizer to carry out all aspects of the work;
- Mentoring one another; and
- Developing meeting agendas with the help of organizer and coordinator.
Parents make up XXX Organizing Committee (OC). The OC has the support of nine organizers from the six CBOs that are members of the Collaborative. In addition, through XXX, XXX has the support of a coordinator. Organizing Committee meets once a month. These meetings are open to all parents and community members.

Crew
Each student at our school is a member of a crew that will stay together for at least two years. Portfolios

UNION SECURITY
Either (a) membership in the Union or (b) written authorization to the Employer to make Union dues deductions each month shall be required of all Employees in the bargaining unit as a condition of employment on or after (1) the 31st day following the beginning of employment or re-employment or (2) the 31st day after the execution of this Agreement, whichever is later, and thereafter. Upon the Union's request in writing and upon twenty (20) days written notice to the Employee, the Employer shall discharge any Employee who has failed to pay Union dues as required by this Article. The Employer shall have no responsibility to insure that Employees sign and file proper and current check-off authorizations. However, the Employer agrees to provide newly hired Employees with dues check-off authorization cards at the time of hire and to forward such authorization cards to the Union. The Union agrees that it will indemnify and hold the Employer harmless from any recovery of damages sustained by reasons of any action taken under this Article.
Every month, the Employer shall submit to the Union a list of new hires and transfers that have occurred during the previous thirty (30) days.

(e) Within 14 days after service by the Region, post at its facility in New York, copies of the attached notice in English, Spanish, Russian and Chinese, marked “Appendix A.”12 Copies of the notice, on forms provided by the Regional Director for Region 29, after being signed by the Respondent’s authorized representative, shall be mailed at its expense to its employees and posted by the Respondent immediately upon receipt and maintained for 60 consecutive days in conspicuous places including all places where notices to employees are customarily posted.13 Reasonable steps shall be taken by the Respondent to ensure that the notices are not altered defaced, or covered by any other material.
