Source text - English Did it all begin with a few ice sculptures in an igloo ten years ago?
Or was it a few hundred years earlier with the Sami meeting-place on the riverbank? Or does it go back to the Ice Age, when the mountains and valleys were formed and the immense power of the melt water dug a new river gorge? All we know is that today the Ice Hotel is a source of great experiences, and its reputation is carried on the wind all over the world. Perhaps because in these times we fondly look back on a life of purity and simplicity, tranquillity and sensuousness, look back to our origins and forward to a new future.
The Ice Hotel is one of the few truly different experiences the world has to offer today. Perhaps this is why people from all over the world make a pilgrimage to this, the Land of the Northern Lights. Some people have never even heard of Sweden, fewer still have heard of Jukkasjärvi. And as for travelling north of the Arctic Circle… However, those who spend a few nights with us will never forget the Ice Hotel. They nearly all come back again.
