Understanding the biblical, theological, historical and denominational context is essential to producing a translation that sounds natural and appropriate to its intended audience. Terminology that may appear interchangeable in a general dictionary can carry very different meanings or associations within different Christian traditions.
I therefore pay particular attention to biblical terminology, theological concepts, denominational language and the conventions used in Portuguese Christian communities. This helps avoid translations that are linguistically correct but culturally or theologically inappropriate – such as using terminology associated with one Christian tradition when the source clearly belongs to another.
