Please be advised that the School Board will review and vote on a proposal to place hydration stations in all DPSCD schools next week on Tuesday, October 9.
Hydration stations cool water and remove copper, lead, and other containments from drinking water. This is our solution to turn drinking water back on in our schools. Stations are being used in universities across the country and in newly built public schools.
The district will place one station in each school for every100 students, in addition to one in the gym, faculty lounge, and kitchen. All schools will be provided a surplus of filters to ensure the hydration stations continue to purify water. The installation of the hydration stations will begin immediately and all schools will have their stations functional by the summer. Until the stations are installed, schools will continue to use water coolers. Once the stations are operational the water coolers will be removed.
We are proud of the fact that we have become a national leader in water testing and quality. Soon, many districts throughout the country will follow our lead.
