While the content, tone and style of the source text should be kept, it is equally crucial to take into account the cultural and linguistic specificities and nuances of the target language in order to ensure that the translation sounds as fresh and natural as the original.
Therefore whenever it is needed (which is in most cases!), I will move away from the original English/Italian copy, to make sure the texts I create flow well and do not sound like they are a translation – in fact it should be quite the opposite: the goal I set myself every time is that my translations should sound like they have been written in French originally.
