Italian to English: Blocco 11/ Block 11 - A Novel by Piero degli Antoni General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Translation - English The rest of the table was vacant. A faint line of steam rose from each of the other eight bowls before dissipating into the air, while the eight slices of bread remained, waiting patiently to be devoured. The old man ate another mouthful of bread and sipped a few spoonfuls of coffee. The smaller morsels seemed to please the old woman much more. They ate, consumed by a seemingly sacred silence, one that neither of them dared to break. Their eyes were lost in thought, filled by images both distant and terrible.

Translation - English It was in a forest in central Africa that Ursula had come into the world. And it was there that, many years before; she had been kidnapped by scientists and taken from her home. She lived, for a brief period, in a laboratory before being sent into orbit on a rocket ship. Yet, rather than detonating with the rest of the rocket – as this was the program – she escaped with the push of a button and parachuted back to earth. After having traversed every strata of the atmosphere at supersonic velocities, she landed right in the center of the Magic Circle. Ursula had been its very first inhabitant. It was true that Ursula was the eldest, and that she had lived the longest in the company of humans, but it was the fact that she had journeyed into outer space as far as the stars themselves, made her the wisest of all creatures.

Source text - Italian EXT. NEW ORLEANS - GIORNO
Mardi Gras 1885 -
In mano tiene
Translation - English EXT. STREET – DAY
New Orleans, Mardi Gras, 1883 -
Colorful floats parade through streets engulfed in the clamor of ecstatic crowds. In all its majesty, the royal float carrying the King and Queen of Carnival advances slowly amidst showers of sparks, unbridled music, and cheers. Cora Slocomb, Queen of Carnival, sits on her throne. A crown rests above her radiant face. In her hand, she holds a royal scepter. Her eyes glow bright with excitement.
In the honorary grandstand, sits her MOTHER, Mrs. Abbey Slocomb, a recent widow. She turns to the friend next to her and says, “Her father would have been so proud to see his Cora, Queen of New Orleans...”

Translation - English Bryce Canyon is a small national park in southwestern Utah. Named after the Mormon Pioneer Ebenezer Bryce, Bryce Canyon became a national park in 1924. The landscape is nothing short of breathtaking: spiral rock sculpted by heavy winds, hollows carved out by erosional forces and shaded by tones of red, orange, and violet, even pinnacles and spires infused together creating the bizarre formation known as the "Hoodoo".
