Patient Sense Switches

The laser will not energize (that is, a scan will not start) unless a patient is lying on the table. An interface called Tabletop Interlock Switches (which are the patient?sense switches located under the scanning?table mat and inside the centering ring track) disables the laser when there is no patient on the scanning?table mat or if a centering ring is not fully seated under normal operation. As another safety precaution, the collimator elevator will not home if one or both of the Interlock switches are tripped (meaning a patient is still on the table.)
