The Fixing system has been designed to handle high-speed printing in B/W as well as colour.
It accommodates the different toners used, in addition to the increased paper weights.
You will recognise the fixing system as fairly conventional with the addition of an external heat roller.

The speed of the fixing system rollers adjusts to the paper type used.
With heavy paper it reduces to 1/3 speed.
Additionally, if the fixing main thermistor detects a drop in temperature, the iR 6800C will ***down-sequence** to maintain fixing quality.(Increase the interval between prints). Typically this might happen during high volume B/W printing.
