I tend to agree with Giles, but sintetico is slightly different from overall. I would use his suggestion, though, for lack of better one.
What they mean is that since now student evaluation entail a long and often incomprehensible (in school board language) evaulation, they summarize it for the sake of outsiders who want to know "in soldoni" how well the poor kid did.

Overall mark
Sintetico = overall ... as it means in general/in brief
Giudizio = mark - as we are talking about education

I'd go for this solution too. There are inherent problems in finding just the "right" expression for this query. First, the ambiguity of a non-numerical evaluation leads to (surprise, surprise) all sorts of renditions, no matter what the language is. Another problem is that, in just the US alone (I'll defer to Paola for Canada), the existence of semi-independent school systems lends itslef to even more liberal uses of more or less exacting testing and scoring methodologies. The evaluation would have more concrete meaning if the "subjective" evaluation were coupled with a numerical score.

I'm at present teaching at one of the Italian IBO schools and we use the conventional phrase suggested by George.
Good luck!
