I'd happily support your answer as I surely do support Maja's proposition, but I am afraid - "substancja złożona" in Polish may refer to the chemical substance exclusively, though the "American definition" clearly says:
all compositions of two or more substances and all composite articles, whether they be the results of chemical union, or of mechanical mixture, or whether they be gases, fluids, powders or solids.
Another one sentence you are mentioning here is as well actually the excerpt from the USPTO sources:

My answer is derived from the routine of patent offices in Europe (including the PPO), and more - the worldwide (including - the American one :) definition says:
composition of two or more substances.
So I'll stick with my offer ... <big>but</big> ... at the end of this my lecture :) - I feel that yours is good as well ! :)
"utility patent" - to amerykańska (US), historyczna nazwa przyjętej w postępowaniu na całym świecie nazwy - "utility model" = wzór użytkowy;
moim zdaniem - używanie w tłumaczeniach - "patent użytkowy" jest nieporozumieniem i nielogicznym oddaniem frazy, tym bardziej, że Amerykanie nie używają oficjalnie (w postępowaniu) takiej nazwy, ale - "additional improvement";
"utility patent" jest również błędnym oddaniem z języka portugalskiego na j. angielski.
