Uma das fontes que citei esclarece a questão. Trata-se de uma fonte em língua espanhola, mesmo assim esclarece o assunto de forma inequívoca:

"Estas unidades de negocio son apoyadas por 17 unidades funcionales (“Group Functions”)"

Então é isso, unidades de negócio e unidades funcionais (“Group Functions”) são coisas distintas(a primeira parte da minha resposta está correta, a segunda não!).
Unidades funcionais são a base de apoio das unidades de negócio.


"unidade de negócio" é sinônimo de unidade comercial, não?

Asker: Olá obrigada pela resposta, eu traduzi Business units como "unidades comerciais", e "unidade de negócio" é sinônimo de unidade comercial, não? tenho receio de "group functions" ter outra característica, o que acha?
