Below is some explanation (the definitions are from Webster’s) showing the difference between the middle school and the high school.

middle school (= junior high school),
a school intermediate between elementary school and high school, usually encompassing grades five or six through eight. (=неполная средняя школа)

high school (= senior high school),
a school attended after elementary school or junior high school and usually consisting of grades 9 or 10 through 12. (=полная средняя школа)

The educational system in Russia is quite different from that in the USA, so it is not always easy to find the appropriate terms to describe specific phenomena.
However, the above translation is, in my opinion, the closest equivalent of the English words in question.

Middle school - неполная средняя школа (nepolnaya srednyaya shkoa): a school between elementary scholl and high school; usually having three or four grades, variously including grades 5 through 8.
High school - полная средняя школа (polnaya srednyaya shkola): usually grades 9 or 10, 11 and 12, offering the last years of secondary education.
