My old Cassell's gives the following meanings for 'vereinzeln': isolate, separate, segregate, sever, detach, dismember; take separately; separate or break up ( a pair or set).
and for 'vereinzelung': isolation, segregation, detachment, separation, individualisation.
Hot-rolled steel bar is produced in long sections which are then cut to various standard lengths for delivery.
