English to French: The Indian Village Plants 111 Trees When a Girl is Born General field: Detailed field: Environment & Ecology
Source text - English The Indian Village Plants 111 Trees When a Girl is Born.
Earth Day Network-India recognizes Piplantri village in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, India, as the first Earth Day Network Star Village.
Piplantri has been a proud advocate and ambassador of eco-feminism. The villagers of Piplantri plant 111 trees every time a girl child is born. The community ensures these trees survive and grow as do the girls.
Shyam Sunder Paliwal, social campaigner and ex-sarpanch of Piplantri village led the way for the initiative #Trees4Earth.
Earth Day Network is committed to improving the shared environment by planting trees across the globe. Since 2010, Earth Day Network has planted tens of millions of trees through The Canopy Project. Using agroforestry and tree care training, The Canopy Project empowers citizens and organizations to conserve, repair and restore tree cover on their lands.
The benefits of conserving trees are extraordinary. Trees provide food, energy and income to help communities achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability. Trees also filter the air and help reverse the impacts of climate change. In just one year, a mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen as 10 people inhale.
Earth Day Network-India launched the Earth Day Network Star Village initiative on October 22 to mark six months to Earth Day’s 50th anniversary on April 22, 2020. Announcements of other Star villages will be made every month.
Earth Day Network’s goal for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020 is to plant 7.8 billion trees, one for every person on earth. Join the movement by planting trees and signing up for Earth Day Network’s Trees for the Earth Campaign.
Translation - French Ce village indien plante 111 arbres à chaque naissance d’une petite fille.

Bio
I’m a freelance English → French (France) translator specialising in educational content and environmental topics.
With a background in linguistics, training in teaching French as a foreign language (FLE), and over 10 years of experience, I focus on making complex content clear, engaging, and accessible.
My work is also grounded in hands-on experience: I trained in organic farming and worked on organic farms, which allows me to approach agricultural and environmental content with both accuracy and real-world understanding.
I regularly translate and adapt:
– e-learning modules and course content
– training materials and instructor guides
– NGO and institutional publications
– reports, awareness campaigns, and educational resources
I particularly enjoy working on projects related to climate, sustainable agriculture, and food systems, as well as learning and training content designed for diverse audiences.
Selected clients include the World Health Organization (learning modules) and FEWS NET (analytical reports).
I offer translation, proofreading & QA, MTPE, subtitling, and editing of non-native French texts.
Based in France (CET) and working with memoQ, Trados, Wordfast and Phrase.
I’m particularly attentive to tone, clarity, and audience adaptation, especially in educational content where understanding and engagement are key.
