Come riporta anche il Dizionario di economia Codeluppi, naturalmente 'investor' in una società per azioni, è anche 'azionista', oltre che investitore. Nel senso che colui che investe, investe acquistando azioni. Sulla scorta della fiducia riposta nella società, l'investitore acquista azioni (diventa quindi azionista) e in tal modo sostiene l'attività della società e ne favorisce l'espansione della società.
Naturalmente la scelta ponderata sulla scorta della natura della società in questione e sul tipo di investimento che si intende.
