English term

Z and X daily reports

English to Spanish Other Other cash registers
Hi! I'm translating EU regulations on cash registers (requirements).

Context:

"A cash register shall be able to produce cash receipts and reports with a compilation of a cash register's registrations regarding a day's sales and continuous use (Z daily report) and a compilation of a cash register's registrations since the last previous Z daily report (the X daily report). The cash receipt, Z daily report and X daily report shall fulfil the requirements stipulated in these regulations."

X DAILY REPORT
An X daily report shall at least contain information on
a. the company's name and corporate identity number or personal identity number,
b. date and time,
c. information that this is an X daily report,
d. cash desk designation,
e. total sales amount (sales amount added up),
f. total sales amount for different main groups if main groups are used.
j. value added tax distributed in different value added tax rates,
h. opening petty cash,
i. number of goods sold,
j. number of services sold,
k. number of cash receipts,
l. number of cash box openings,
m. number of receipt copies and amount,
n. number of registrations in practice mode and amount,
o. sales sum distributed in different means of payment,
p. number of returns and amount,
q. discounts,
r. other registrations that have reduced the day's sales and in what amount,
s. number of incomplete sales,
t. grand total sales,
u. grand total returns and
t. grand total net.

Z DAILY REPORT
A Z daily report shall at least contain information on
a. the company's name and corporate identity number or personal identity number,
b. date and time,
c. serial number from an uninterrupted ascending number series,
d. information that this is an Z daily report,
e. cash desk designation,
f. total sales amount (sales amount added up),
g. total sales amount for different main groups if main groups are used.
h. value added tax distributed in different value added tax rates,
i. opening petty cash,
j. number of goods sold,
k. number of services sold,
l. number of cash receipts,
m. number of cash box openings,
n. number of receipt copies and amount,
o. number of registrations in practice mode and amount,
p. sales sum distributed in different means of payment,
q. number of returns and amount,
r. discounts,
s. other registrations that have reduced the day's sales and in what amount,
t. number of incomplete sales,
u. grand total sales,
v. grand total returns and
w. grand total net.

The funny thing is that they are practically the same thing! The only difference I see in these requirements is letter c on the Z daily report, which is not included in the x daily report requirements. The rest is the exact same!

Thank you very much in advance!

By the way, a friend of mine who used to work at Zara tells me that they had to print everyday a sort of report (like a very long receipt) of that day's operations, and that they called it "el 24".

Discussion

cisternas Jul 9, 2008:
By the way, she talked about "sacar la X y la Z", but this is a report, so it should be "informe X" e "informe Z". I also suggest "resumen" instead of "informe".
Alicia González-Camino (X) (asker) Jul 9, 2008:
¡Gracias por la explicación cisternas! ¡Ahora me ha quedado mucho más claro!
cisternas Jul 9, 2008:
...for the following day and starts from 0 (zero)
cisternas Jul 9, 2008:
Yes, they are called the same. I have just called her and she explained to me that the X is like a "draft" you can print as many X you want during the day to see how the sales are going. But the Z is the final report of the day and prepares the machine...
Alicia González-Camino (X) (asker) Jul 9, 2008:
Hi cisternas,
are you saying they call it X and Z in Spanish too?

I've found some results in google but not so many... however, there's a web that explains how to use a cash register in a hotel restaurant and talks about the "informe Z" or "zeta" and "informe X"

so maybe...
cisternas Jul 9, 2008:
Hi Alicia: I don´t know why they are different; but they are call X and Z. I remember that a friend of mine that run her own little shop did that everyday. Probably she explained to me the difference, but I can't remeber.
