French term

aux lieu et place de

French to English Law/Patents Law (general) partial transfer of assets
Does this simply mean 'instead of and in place of' in the legal clause below? And should the 'aux' be plural or is that a typo?

Yes. Also, "aux" refers to both "lieu" and "place" so is gramatically plural.

It was the plural of 'aux' that confused me, but as I suspected, it is correct as it refers to both 'lieu' and 'place' (as pointed out by Christopher) - but is nothing more than typical French tautology - I mean, what is the difference between the two - absolutely nothing!! :)"
