Discussion

Erik Freitag Nov 25, 2014:
Agree with philgoddard The corresponding interval name in English would be "twelfth".
philgoddard Nov 25, 2014:
Not sure it's either. Duodecim is the Latin for twelve, and duodecimo is a printing term.

articulated C#/G# key

This is a key that is added on some German clarinet key systems that makes certain fingerings easier. I googled "clarinet twelfth connection" and it showed that it is a special key on some clarinets. (C# and G# can be a twelfth interval apart.)

German term (edited): Duodezimverbindung

register (key) linkage

Unlike most other wind instruments, the clarinet overblows at the 12th (most others overblow in the octave). To close the gap between the lower and upper register, the register key is used. I really don't know a lot more about clarinet key mechanisms, but inital research may hint at "register linkage" or "register key linkage" as starting point for further research.
Peer comment(s):

disagree billcorno (X) : I confused register key with bridge key, which (I think) are both wrong.

Thanks, billcorno. Maybe I confused register key with bridge key?
