Discussion

Ed Friesen Feb 20, 2008:
Aha, I found a few "Schadenstische" on the web after all. Apparently a special unit in the VW organization, set up to tackle incipient problems that have exceeded a certain error threshold.
Beth Jones Feb 20, 2008:

A quality-control/ QM commission/board? But I'm supposing. Dunno for sure. Yes, "curious" indeed.
Ed Friesen Feb 20, 2008:
And what are (or is) "Schadenstische"? Mysterioser and mysterioser, as Alice said.
Beth Jones Feb 20, 2008:
@ gazoo: Pls see my note below. HTH, bj
Ed Friesen Feb 20, 2008:
It's fine to translate "Logik" as "logic", but what does it mean?? Perhaps they are talking about a testing algorithm used to determine whether a received machine part meets the requirements.

"Logic testing for purposes of guarantee" may not do it...

I'd say you could go ahead and translate it as logic, which I think here even (indirectly!) includes the sense of this "logistics" process.
Just try Googling Logic and Logistics and you get:

That's the answer to your question (I think/hope).

neutral Ken Cox : If the part is a digital electronics part, 'logic testing' effectively means functional testing (verification that the device works according to the specified logic). This concept can also be generalised.
