Spanish term

sombrerete gallonado

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Bridge building
I have seen and found translations of "sombrerete" and a few less of "gallonado", but I cannot really understand what is meant in this case.

This is from a book on bridges (basically the history of their design and construction). In this case the bridge has 20 stone arches. The piers for these arches has a repeating pattern:

" y las pilas se disponen con un doble ritmo. Una de cada tres es más ancha y su tajamar sube hasta el tablero, mientras en las otras dos solo suben hasta los riñones del arco y se cubren con sombrerete gallonado"

The bridge in question is the "Puente de Alcolea (1792)"

Here is a picture of the bridge:

I assume the sombreretes gallonados aer the conical tops on the cutwaters, but what would you call them?

On this site the Cathedral at Zamora has a “dome” that is “gallonado”, built in the 12th century: Byzantine?

So, after all that, what does “gallonado” mean?

Eventually, I found a reference:

I know this last reference is about a plate, so I am guessing a bit here.

Well, in the context of domes, "gallonado" is definitely "segmented" in En:

I am also translating this term (in relation to a piece on the cathedral in Zamora). I found the term by chance, but on looking up the term in a glossary it would seem to fit..at least in my case. Will keep an eye out though for other answers, just in case.

Best of luck,
