Anstifte måtte tilbakebetale tomat leverandører, men det stoppet ikke gjentakelse av flere tomat kamper-og fødselen av en ny tradisjon. Engstelig av en ustyrlig opptrapping, vedtatt myndigheter, avslappet, og deretter gjeninnsatt en rekke forbud i 1950. I 1951 ble lokalbefolkningen som trosset loven fengslet til offentlig ramaskrik kalt for løslatelse. Den mest kjente effrontery til tomat forbud skjedde i 1957 da talsmenn holdt en mock tomat begravelse komplett med en kiste og prosesjon. Etter 1957, bestemte de lokale myndighetene til å rulle med slag, satt noen regler på plass, og omfavnet den sprø tradisjon. Selv om tomatene står i sentrum, en uke med festligheter fører opp til det endelige oppgjøret. Det er en feiring av Buñol sin skytshelgener, Jomfru Maria og St. Louis Bertrand, med gateparader, musikk og fyrverkeri i frydefull spansk mote.
