Condensate from the steam main is returned
to a hotwell located in the boiler house. Boiler
make up water is softened, demineralised and
chemically treated before being added to the
hotwell. The hotwell is provided with steam to
maintain the temperature of the boiler feed
water. Each boiler has a dedicated connection
to the hotwell, both having a single boiler feed
pump. There is no flow metering on the feed
water lines to the boilers and therefore feed
water consumption is unknown.
