Stawka opodatkowania dodatkowej jednostki dochodu. W przypadku podatku progresywnego rośnie ona wraz ze wzrostem dochodu, w przypadku podatku liniowego jest ona jednakowa niezależnie od poziomu osiąganego dochodu.

The tax bracket = grupa podatkowa = is less important than the tax rate (the percentage rate) for the marginal bracket.
