punto optimo
Actually, 'sweet spot' is not all that coloquial, it's an actual term to refer to the 'best', 'maximum' or 'optimum' area on an object.
It can be used in many contexts, but the one that most comes to mind for me is used with tennis rackets.
the very center of the racket is called the sweet spot, ie. the place where the ball will bounce off the best, hence it's sweet...this would also apply to other sports implements, ie. baseball bat.
I'm sure there are other uses and I don't know what a translation would be, but at least now you have an idea what it is. Perhaps 'el punto maximo/optimo'?

ideal location, right area
