At first I thought the fingers were the spaces on the grilled wall of the duct since the word 'slot' is used alongside 'finger'. But it would make more sense if 'slot/finger' meant 'either wide slots or wide fingers'. What do you think?

12 años fui representante técnico de una fabrica de, entre otras cosas, canales para cables (www.zoloda.com.ar) y nunca se me ocurrió un nombre para esa parte del canal, es más jamás alguien lo mencionó. Slot es obviamente la ranura, eso está claro.
Y bué, si dice "finger" pues será "dedo" que por otra parte se asemeja.
