Source text - English Translation is greatly developed in Argentina, not only because of the numerous professional translators in the country but also for the average level of their education and training. A high percentage of translators in Argentina is a graduate of one of the many universities which offer translation in their course of studies, and a great part has additional education in their areas of specialization.
Argentinean translators have inherited the tradition of extending bridges between cultures, a gift received from the culture and work of countless immigrants that came to the country from all over the world.
Many factors converge to foster the hiring of Argentinean translators by clients in the international market. Among those it's the solid reputation of good quality and professionalism, the current relevance of Spanish as a target language, and in some cases, a scheme of competitive rates.
Many professional associations regulate the segment of public translation and local clients. Particularly the Buenos Aires Translators Association (Colegio de Traductores de la Capital Federal) which has more than seven thousand registered translators.
The ProZian community in Argentna is one of the biggest and more active. Many events have been organized in the country since 2001 in main cities like Buenos Aires, La Plata, Córdoba and Rosario.
In line with the relevancy of translation and the community in this country, the biggest ProZ.com office in the world is located in La Plata, Argentina.

President Bush today delivered a stern defense of the nation's detention and interrogation of terrorism suspects, saying that lives have been saved by the aggressive questioning of suspects and that any interrogation tactics have been in compliance with the country's "international obligations" and been fully disclosed to "appropriate members" of Congress.
Faced with a backlash over a secret Justice Department memo that some lawmakers argue authorized the use of torture, Bush said in a brief statement today that
Americans expected the administration to protect them from future terrorist attacks
When we find someone who may have information about a potential attack, you bet we are going to detain them and you bet we are going to question them. Because the American people expect us to find out information, actionable intelligence, so we can protect them," Bush said. "This government does not torture people. We stick to U.S. law and our international obligations."
The memos, first disclosed Thursday by the New York Times, condoned interrogation techniques such as head slapping and simulated drowning.
"I have put this program in place for a reason, that is to better protect the American people," Bush said. "There are highly trained professionals questioning these extremists and terrorists. We have professionals who are trained in this kind of work that are going to get the information to protect the American people."
Following disclosure of the Justice Department memos, Democratic lawmakers demanded that the agency turn over the documents. The controversy could complicate the upcoming confirmation hearings for attorney general-designate Michael B. Mukasey.
However, the president said today that "the techniques that we used have been fully disclosed to appropriate members of the U.S. Congress."
The Bush administration has briefed the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about various aspects of the interrogation methods being used on terror suspects.
But the committee has demanded to see the opinions written by Justice Department lawyers to justify the harshest methods.
Sen. John D. Rockefeller (D-W. Va.), chairman of the committee, wrote to Bush yesterday demanding the administration turn over legal opinions the White House has said support earlier approval of interrogation techniques, as well as new guidelines the president approved in an executive order last summer.
The White House has described the department's opinions as an executive work
product and said that its briefings to the committee are adequate.

قام الرئيس الأمريكي اليوم بإلقاء كلمة دفاع صلبه حول الاحتجاز و التحقيق مع مشتبهي التورط في الإرهاب . قائلا أن هناك العديد من الأرواح قد تم إنقاذها من خلال الأسئلة القاسية و العدوانية الموجهة للمشتبه فيهم . كما أن أسلوب التحقيق يخضع للالتزامات الدولية وتم كشفه كليه لأعضاء الكونجرس المختصين .
مواجها الرد الفعل السلبي من أثر المذكرة السرية لوزارة العدل . والتي جادل فيها بعض المشرعين مسألة التفويض بالتعذيب. بوش قال في تصريح مختصر اليوم أن الأمريكيين يتوقعون من الإدارة الأمريكية حمايتهم من الهجمات الإرهابية المستقبلية .
حين نجد شخصا من الممكن أن يكون لدية معلومات عن هجمات محتملة , فبالتأكيد أنت تعلم أننا سنحتجزهم وبالتأكيد سنستجوبهم . لأن الشعب الأمريكي يتوقع منا أن نكتشف المعلومات , طبقا لنشاط ودور المخابرات حتى نتمكن من حمايتهم. بوش قال " الحكومة لا تعذب الناس . نحن نلتزم بالقانون الأمريكي وبالتزاماتنا الدولية".
المذكرة كشفت عنها في البداية صحيفة النيويورك تايمز . والتي تسمح بوسائل التحقيق مثل الصفع ووضع رأس المتهم في الماء محاكاة للغرق.

وبالرغم من هذا قال الرئيس اليوم انه:" كل الوسائل المستخدمة تم الكشف عنها كليه لأعضاء مجلس النواب الأمريكي المختصين" . إدارة بوش لخصت ملاحظات لجنة مجلس الشيوخ بشأن المخابرات بخصوص السمة المتنوعة لأساليب التحقيق المستخدمة في مواجهة مشتبهي التورط في الإرهاب.
ولكن اللجنة طالبت بالاطلاع على الرأي المسطر من قبل محامي وزارة العدل الأمريكية التي تبرر الاساليبة القاسية.
سين جون دي روكفللر. رئيس اللجنة , كتب لبوش بالأمس مطالبا الإدارة بتحويل الآراء القانونية التي صرح البيت الأبيض بشأن أنها مدعمة و موافقة مبكرة لأساليب التحقيق , والتي أجاز الرئيس الأمريكي خطوط عامة مثلها في صورة أمر تنفيذي الصيف الماضي .
وصف البيت الأبيض أراء الإدارة بأنها عمل تنفيذي منتج . وأن كلمته المختصرة الموجهة للجنة كافية.
