I agree with Cecile! Explanation: I think Cecile’s proposal is right. I believe Spannbuchse is the only possible answer and that the problem is with the English original. It seems it must be a typo - it should be locking bushes, not brushes. A locking bush would make sense for tubular furniture. A locking or clamping bush or bushing is used for connections between tubular pieces.
