German term

Vorlauf (mixer)

German to English Tech/Engineering Medical: Dentistry Dental Mixer
"Nachdem eine neue Kartusche eingelegt wurde, muß vor der ersten Abformung einmalig ein Vorlauf erfolgen, damit beide Pasten des Materials korrekt dosiert werden."

Talking about a mixer used in dentistry. I guess the mixer mixes the impression material.

What is a "Vorlauf" in this context? Flow? Forerun? I just don't have any definite idea. TIA for your help.

trial run

I think Vorlauf may have the meaning of Testlauf here. So, before the first Abformung is made, a trial run is necessary to determine the correct dosage of the pastes.
