Non mi viene in mente un modo più sintentico per dirlo. E' un ufficio che valuta caso per caso le richieste di chi chiede di rimanere in UK chiedendo asilo allo stato.

: I think in this sense it's vagliare/controllare, not "selezionare" which would be applied to a job applicant
