ESOFT: Thanks for your suggestions. I think "exigibility" or "enforceability" makes sense here, but not "collectibility".

It's a breach-of-contract suit and this section of the document is reviewing one particular relevant case. The regulations require the buyer to examine the goods received as soon as possible after their delivery in order to detect defects, if they're present. If the buyer fails to carry out this examination in a timely manner, then he forfeits the right to claim damages later.

what confuses me is how it is used in the sentence....
I mean, \"rilievo\" in Italian means practically \"highlight\", as in \"something of importance or relevance\" but the structure of the phrase is unusual...

may be something is missing in the original....?

just to be clear, \"exigibility\" really has to do with \"enforceability\" which is not in the hands of individuals or businesses.... I mean I may be \"entitled\" to receive something but I can only receive it if the person who has that something is willing to transfer it to me...
