I know it sounds obvious, but it seems the best to me since Moroccan tile designs are based on highly repetitive and precise geometric patterns, which is not the case with 'patchwork/swirls, etc.' Since the author uses the same word in both cases, presumably intends to convey the same idea about aromas.
