it is a verb used in the following sentence:The accuracy of barium studies indetecting polyps can be assessed to a large degree.

Misspelling is never out the question - and especially in electronic files. The space got deleted during a manipulation and no one bothered to do a spellcheck - these things happen. Good luck! :-)

Thanks for your answer, that is the only idea I got, too. But, I am confised- why isn't it written "in detecting" but "indetecting"!? I believe that misspelling is out of question because it is in a text from a Radiology CD.
