"palos" (en este contexto)

Spanish to English Other Music Musica
Modo Frigio-Renacentista con modulación a la Dominante Auténtica. Se corresponde con la armonía utilizada en la mayoría de los "palos" derivados de los Fandangos, así como los propios Fandangos. Estos palos no son constitutivos del Cante Jondo, aunque si forman parte del grupo de los palos Flamencos

You could use "music styles" or just "styles" if you don't want to use "palos", but I would agree that normally the Spanish word is retained.

palos

Palos is usually retained in the Spanish in the English literature on flamenco. I don't think there is a satisfactory way to translate it. For example,
