English to Malay: How do I go about weaning?
General field: Social Sciences
Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English
Once your baby is eating a wide range of foods you may find she cuts down on breastfeeding of her own accord. If you want to help the process along, follow these stages:
Stage one: let your baby finish a full breastfeed, then offer her a small portion of food. At this point you are just letting your baby experiment with flavours and textures. She'll still get most of her nourishment from breastmilk.
Stage two: once your baby is eating well (you will notice changes in her poos if she is), you can switch things around. At some mealtimes, try offering food first, before you breastfeed her. Then you can start offering something to eat before every breastfeed.
Stage three: eventually, offer your baby water in a soft-spouted beaker instead of a breastfeed.

Bagaimanakah saya mula menceraikan susu?
Sebaik saja bayi anda memakan berbagai jenis makanan, anda akan mendapati dengan sendirinya dia kurang meminta susu badan. Jika anda mahu membantu menggerakkan proses ini, ikutilah langkah-langkah ini:
Langkah satu: Biarkan bayi menghabiskan penyusuan sepenuhnya, kemudian berikan dia hidangan kecil makanan.

Bio
For most of my working life I worked in curriculum development, working on language programmes, in particular English and Malay.

I undertook translation, writing and training in 2004 and have a few regular clients such as Oxford Fajar (Msia), BabyCenter (Msia), Unisel and the Malaysian Oil Palm Board. However, in the course of some 30 years experience in planning and implementing national education in Malaysia at the ministry level, I have been involved in a lot of writing and translating, working with the language pair English-Malay to the extent of being very fast and accurate.

I have a PhD (TESL) from the University of Southampton (1995) and an M.S from Florida State University (Tallahassee) (1983). I am completely bilingual in English and Malay as my education has been in English and my work experience in Malay mainly.

My years of experience is a major plus that has enabled me to complete work in record time and to a high degree of accuracy and quality.
